Our Fields of Expertise / 02
Skybase develops aviation sport as a platform for competition, participation and public inspiration—from drone racing and model aviation to light-aircraft activity and memorable flying experiences.

Sport with purpose
Aviation sport turns advanced technology and flying skill into something people can see, understand and enjoy. It creates an accessible connection between aviation, youth culture, tourism, education and the emerging low-altitude economy.
Skybase brings together venues, operations, event development and industry relationships to support sports programmes with real public impact. Our work can range from major competitions and demonstrations to recurring club activity, introductory experiences and aviation festivals that welcome families, students, enthusiasts and professional participants.
How we build participation
Public exhibitions, demonstrations and introductory sessions make aviation sport visible and inviting.
Safe, guided activities allow newcomers to try simulators, drones and flying-related experiences.
Training, clubs and recurring programmes help participants build technical knowledge and practical skill.
Events and structured competition give talent a stage and create pathways toward higher-level participation.
Aviation sports

01 / Drone racing
FPV drone racing combines pilot skill, engineering, digital technology and spectacular competition. Skybase supports events and experiences that make this rapidly growing sport accessible to competitors and audiences.

02 / Model aviation
Model aviation offers an engaging route into aerodynamics, aircraft design and disciplined flight. Competitions, demonstrations and club activity create opportunities for every level of participant.

03 / Recreational flying
Light aircraft and recreational flying activities bring people closer to flight, combining sport, tourism and safe participation in an authentic operating environment.
Year-round competition programme
Beyond the World Cup, Skybase carries out numerous national and provincial aviation, drone and model-aircraft competitions throughout the year. Together, these events have welcomed more than 20,000 participants—building a broad community around competitive flight, technical creativity and public participation.
Our programme ranges from accessible paper-aircraft and youth activities to FPV drone racing and larger aviation events, creating multiple entry points for different ages and levels of experience.

Hosted in Ningbo / May 2026
Skybase hosted and successfully delivered the 2026 FAI Drone Racing World Cup in Yinzhou, Ningbo. The May event brought international-standard FPV competition to Ningbo and demonstrated the city’s capacity to stage major aviation, technology and sporting events.
The competition connected elite sport with public participation, youth engagement, media, technology companies and Ningbo’s wider low-altitude economy ambitions.
International recognition
Following the World Cup, the Aeromodelling Division of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale issued a formal letter of appreciation to Skybase Cloudscape.
FAI praised the event’s professionalism, meticulous planning, operational excellence, safety, athlete services, logistics, media coordination and spectator engagement, and described it as a new benchmark for future international drone-racing events.

A place for aviation sport
Skybase’s core China operating venue provides the physical setting needed to bring aviation sport to life. Its runway, open grounds, hangar space and waterfront environment support flying activity, model aviation, drone courses, public demonstrations and event programming.
The base allows sporting concepts to move from planning into real operation—while giving audiences and participants a distinctive destination where flight, recreation and community come together.
